SAMS NEW TROUSERS

Sam had a pair of trousers that

he loved his very best

Equal to and way above

any of the rest

He wore them every day,

even though he had some more

He said that in comparison

those ones were so poor

One day when he went walking

He fell and grazed his side

And when I looked his trousers had

A hole (not very wide)

I said ‘its time you got some more’

He said ‘, these will do’

I looked at him and shook my head

(I had a chuckle too)

We went however to the shops

I picked out two nice pairs

He tried them on, he said OK

But now I’m in despair

He will not let me throw his oldies

Into the dustbin..... no

He says they are so comfy

He just will not let them go

And so at night when he’s asleep

I’ll have to take my chance

Get hold of them and throw them out

Without another glance

I’ll put his new pair in their place

And then nonchalantly go

To make our morning cup of tea

He might not even know.
